Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the performing arts (now called Maureen O'Hara), would have placed her, at least in the eyes of America, into the category of child prodigy. As a person with Irish origins, who was surrounded her by talented parents and family members did this naturally. Maureen was welcomed into the family-oriented house on August 17th, 20th in Ranelagh. Marguerita FitzSimons' mother, Lilburn, was an contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also owned a piece of the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer team. Maureen was the second child of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen was a fan of rough sports as a kid and was very adept in them. Her natural ability to perform perfectly complemented her interest in sport. The fact that she was awarded nearly every Feis prizes for her own country's drama and theatre performances proved this. By age 14 she was accepted to the prestigious Abbey Theater and pursued her dream of classical theater along with operatic music.
